Summer Rock Climbing Season Arrives in the Scottish Highlands
Blair leading the easier but bold section of 'Spreadeagle', E4 6a, Glen Nevis, Scottish Highlands
After the long and cold (but excellent) winter of 2010 it is a pleasure not a chore to put the ice axes away and dust off the rock boots. Late spring in to early summer in the Highlands is often the best window for good weather, dry rock and midge free climbing.
From Fort William we have had some good recent forays both on the local crags of Glen Nevis and further East over at Creag Dubh and Weem.
Whilst the former are excellent traditional rock climbing venues, providing some fine and difficult routes, the latter is a sport climbing venue near Aberfeldy with some easily accessible, well bolted and varied routes. A great place to get back in to the rock climbing mind set after the long winter of ice climbing.
