"A Lonely Place To Die", Film safety work in Scottish Highlands
Camera safety work whilst filming 'A Lonely Place to Die' in Glen Nevis, Scottish Highlands
The impressive brooding landscapes of Glen Nevis & Glencoe have been popular locations for some major films over the years. Harry Potter, William Wallace (in 'Braveheart') and the Monty Python crew (in the Holy Grail) have all visited the deep Glens of the West Highlands.
The latest film promises to have some spectacular rock climbing footage as an opening sequence and has made good use of the valley and mountain crags of Glen Nevis and Glencoe. I spent the week working with a film safety team (for Richard Bentley's company Mountain Motion) assisting the camera crew and actors. Today we were filming what should be a dramatic rock climbing scene high on the Rannoch Wall on Glencoe's Buachaille Etive Mor. Constant rain, snow and mist did not prevent some fine light appearing between the showers and the helicopter containing camera crew making several close passes. I was playing the role of 'Ed' played by actor Ed Speelers.
