Arolla Based Course

On the summit of the Pigne d'Arolla during a traverse from the Dix to Vignettes Huts. Val d'Herens, Swiss Alps

Possible venues and climbs during an Arolla based week:

  • Glacier skills training on the Ferpecle or Cheilon Glacier
  • Mountaineering training on the Pas de Chevre scramble on approach to Dix Hut.
  • Pigne D'Arolla (3790m) (PD)
  • Mont Blanc de Cheilon (3870m) (PD)
  • Valley Rock climbing and ropework training in the Val d'Herens
  • Weissmeis (4023m) (PD)
  • L'Eveque (3761m) (PD)
  • Aiguille de Tsa (3668m) (PD+)

Suggested Experience: Solid background of hillwalking in the UK with some scrambling experience. Whilst it not essential to have a background of UK rock climbing and winter mountaineering this will be useful. A good fitness level is required for alpine mountaineering days up to 8 hours in duration.
