Mountaineering in Antarctica

'Australian climber and polar skier, Damien Gildea has published a new book on Antarctic mountaineering this week.'
Mountaineering in Antarctica - Climbing in the Frozen South....
Damien's book is the product of many years of personal climbing and exploration on the continent and the result of endless research and conversations with experienced Antarctic climbers. This appealing coffee table style book mixes high quality, but previously unpublished photography, with mountaineering history, exploration, geology, glacialology and gives some practical information for visitors. There are some of my own photos published in the book and some first and second ascent details from an Ellsworth Mountaineering trip I guided last season for ALE.
I will be working for ALE again this season from their new base camp (Union Glacier) in the Ellsworth Mountains as well as on Mount Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica and therefore one of the continental '7 Summits'.
