East Ridge Carn Dearg Meadhonach
Descending Carn Mor Dearg with East Ridge of Carn Dearg Meadhonach on the right (NOT on the 26/3/2010!)
The East Ridge of Carn Dearg Meadhonach has to be good otherwise no one would bother with the rather long and scrappy approach. Even via the Nevis Range Gondola the lower section of the ridge rather 'drags on', especially on a driech West Coaster like today.
However the upper alpine PD style section of the ridge provides some high quality and sustained Scottish mountaineering at grade 1.5. The views were missing today although we did get a fleeting glimpse of the fine West Face of Aonach Mor.
Looks like conditions may improve with cooler temperatures and some more snow leading in to Easter.
