Rob giving the 'Year in the Mountains' talk at New Scotland Yard

Thanks to Jerry Ostrowski and the Metropolitan Police Mountaineering Club for hosting an excellent evening at New Scotland Yard last night.

I had been invited to give a talk covering a 'Year in the Mountains', for an International Mountain Guide. The lecture was a mixture of the far flung and exotic (including Mount Vinson in Antarctica and the first ascent of 'Changuch' in the Indian Himalaya) with the closer to home and more practical including an ascent of the Matterhorn and winter climbing on Ben Nevis.

I also talked through a number of 'Mountain Hazards' with some personal anecdotes, lessons learnt and a 'home video' shot at the bottom of a large crevasse!

The club has only been re-formed by Jerry in the last few years and already has a membership of over 60. Good luck to them on forthcoming trips to Scotland, Lundy and the Alps...

'A year in the mountains'

Rob, many thanks for the lecture, it was a great talk. No doubt we will have new members joining the club very soon. Can't believe you videoed yourself trapped in a crevasse!!!! Great footage though as was the Nanda Devis / Changuch video. Inspiring stuff!!!!!!
